News Items from the California Association of Licensed Investigators
CALI announced a partnership with PI Magazine to distribute PI Magazine to all members of the association at no cost to the members. PI Magazine and CALI entered a marketing agreement to promote CALI throughout California. PI Magazine will also provide free webinars to all CALI members throughout the year, targeted at building their businesses and gaining knowledge on the most recent investigative techniques.
CALI announced on January 7, 2011, it will begin providing free one-day seminars throughout California to any licensed investigator in California, licensed within one year of the seminar. CALI wants to take the lead in providing a Basic Training day designed to provide new licensees with the critical information they need to transition to the industry and become productive and profitable as quickly as possible. Training will include ethics, legal updates, contracts, marketing, transitioning from the public sector and much more. In addition, any attendee may join CALI for $99.00 for their first year of membership. Any CALI member may also attend the free seminars and take advantage of the Basic Training. C.W. Sellers will be coordinating and organizing the events throughout California. The first two seminars will be held in Sacramento, Saturday, March 12, 2011 and in Reno, NV, Friday, June 24, 2011.
CALI will be holding its annual Legislative Day on March 14, 2011, in Sacramento, CA. The event is free to all CALI members. The program includes training on grassroots lobbying, speakers from the Capitol, complimentary lunch and appointments set for attendees to meet their legislators or their aides.
CALI announced on December 26, 2010, that Jerry Desmond of Desmond & Associates was retained as the interim Executive Director of CALI. CALI and Smith Moore & Associates ended their five-year relationship effective February 1, 2011. Jerry Desmond has been associated with CALI as its lobbyist in Sacramento for the past 14 years. CALI is excited to have Jerry assume additional duties with the association.
CALI announced a promotional program designed to attract and retain new members. Effective January 1, 2011, CALI will offer the following memberships:
New Licensees (less than one year) $ 99.00 first year
All other Licensees* $149.00 first year
Affiliate PPO** $50.00 first year
*If not a former CALI member for the past 36 months prior to signing up for new membership
**Must meet qualifications for admittance in State Fund Program
CALI Annual Conference will be held at the Grand Sierra Hotel in Reno, NV, from June 24, 2011, through June 26, 2011. Speakers TBA. Room rate is $69.00 per room, free parking, free wireless Internet, 2 complimentary cocktails per person. The program will include two tracks of educational seminars. Cost of the event, based on signups, will be below $149.00 (more than a 50% reduction from the last two programs). Members may sign up for the event starting January 15, 2011 at the CALI website, cali-pi.org.
CALI and PI Museum have entered into an agreement to sponsor the PI Museum Winnebago that will be used throughout the United States to display memorabilia and historical items unique to the Private Investigation industry. CALI is proud to be the first association sponsor for the PI Museum on Wheels.
