Private Investigator Hired by Anti-Piracy Lobbyists Speaks to the Press

HOLLYWOOD, CA -- Private investigator Gavin “Tex” Warren has been speaking to the media about his time working for anti-piracy concerns. He alleges that he was told to find ties between drug trafficking and piracy. He also alleges that he was instructed to forge relationships with police to boost concerns about piracy, and boost statistics in his investigations, so that during busts he was instructed to treat blank tapes and CDs as potential products. Warren worked for a group known as AFACT in Australia between 2003 and 2008, focusing largely on off-line piracy.
