Private Investigator Weighs in on Child Safety

TULSA, OK -- After pastor Allen Ray Jeffers was arrested and charged with kidnapping and raping a mentally disabled minor, the community is asking questions about the types of checks in place to prevent predators from having contact with children. Private investigator Adrienne Kallweit spoke to the media about background checks, noting that Oklahoma background checks involve OSBI screening for most jobs, and that system does not uncover a variety of red flags, including protection orders, evictions, and other possible clues. Kallweit says that working with a private investigator or a company such as Seeking Sitters – a company that Kallweit partly owns and which provides background checks to clients – is the more reliable way of screening employees and caretakers.
